Role overview
We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic, talented and appropriately experienced PE Specialist to deliver the PE curriculum at River Mead School in Melksham. The school joined our Trust in 2014, and now has 271 children on roll. 39 of those are educated within the school’s Resource Base, a provision specifically supporting children with Complex Needs, and 49 are in the nursery, which cares for 3 – 4 year olds and accepts universal as well as extended funding. River Mead School is a happy, vibrant place where children are enabled to dream, strive, achieve and celebrate..

We are looking for a suitably experienced PE Specialist who is:

We are interested in receiving applications from qualified teachers, as well as those who may not have Qualified Teacher Status. If you are not a qualified teacher, instead you will need to have:
• L2 in any sport (Essential)
• L3 in Sport Development or equivalent (Essential)
• L3 or above in Teaching and Learning (Desirable)

As our PE Specialist, you will be responsible for:
• Leading PE across the school – delivering the highest quality PE teaching across our school
• Leading on engagement in sports partnership and inter-school fixtures
• Chairing the Sports Council
• Ensuring play leaders are trained and well-deployed to support daily physical activity
• Leading the development and implementation of our outdoor and adventurous curriculum
• Leading on wider personal development curriculum and supporting the Subject Lead for PSHE / RSE
• Acting as a lead practitioner in our Inclusion Curriculum team, working closely with our Assistant Headteacher/SENCO to lead, develop, coach and deliver a range of interventions to support SEMH needs
• Leading the play curriculum for the school, including play-times, nurtured play and wrap around care before and after school

If you are a qualified teacher, you may also take on delivery of some class teaching when not delivering PE.
