Music

44e believe that every pupil should have the opportunity to develop their musical potential and we aim to nurture and encourage musical development. A specialist Music teacher leads music class lessons at all of our schools. We aim to give children the opportunity to find enjoyment along with developing an ability to discuss and evaluate musical performances and styles.

Pupils enjoy performing using the wide range of percussion instruments at school including well equipped outdoor musical areas where pupils enjoy singing and develop their skills through creative singing games. Singing forms a key role in the teaching and learning and we hope to develop personal confidence and esteem giving pupils the opportunity to sing in class, assembly, choirs, ensembles, concerts and shows.

We encourage links with other curriculum areas and provide musical enrichment activities through the year that support pupils’ musical learning. We are committed to being a ‘Singing Community’ and have taken part in Young Voices for a number of years.

Pupils benefit from visiting professional musicians and we encourage visits and workshops that inspire and lead pupils in new and exciting experiences. Pupils have the opportunity to take part in a number of concerts, festivals and shows throughout the school year.

We are dedicated to offering pupils a wide enrichment programme.  Our enrichment programme includes every child learning the ukulele in Year 4 and steel pans in Year 5. We also offer a wide variety of paid specialist music tuition including:

  • Singing
  • Drums and Guitar
  • Violin
  • Cello
  • Flute
  • Keyboard & piano
  • Ukulele

Details can be obtained from the school office.
