We are delighted to confirm that River Mead School has been awarded Bronze Level Accreditation by the Wiltshire Quality Assurance Group for Healthy Schools in Wiltshire.

The Wiltshire Healthy Schools Standards have been developed to meet the health priorities and needs of the children and young people of Wiltshire. The Standards are linked to the current Ofsted Common Inspection Framework, national and local Public Health Outcomes and other guidance for schools including from NICE (National Institute of health and Care Excellence).

Schools achieving the Wiltshire Healthy Schools Standards can be confident in their knowledge that they have set the foundation for best practise in Health Promotion throughout their setting.

In order to achieve our Bronze accreditation, we had to demonstrate that we are are meeting criteria under the headings of:

  • The Whole School Approach
  • PSHE education
  • Healthy Weight (incorporating Healthy Eating and Physical Activity)
  • Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health

Nick Bolton, Personal Development Education Adviser at Wiltshire Council, said that:

The group felt that your audit was well presented and… It was encouraging to hear about so much good work taking place at the school. Thank you for all your hard work that is making a significant difference to improving the health of wellbeing of children at your school.

Congratulations to Miss Liz Yeates, and the whole team at River Mead, for this fantastic achievement in helping to keep our children healthy.
