Grade D £18,426 – Grade E £19,945 pro rata depending on experience and qualifications

Role overview:

Castle Mead School is part of The Mead Academy Trust. It is an exciting and rewarding place to work. We are still expanding and will be two form entry across the school when full. We  currently have two classes in Key Stage 1 and single classes in Key Stage 2. Our Resource Base provides specialist support for children with a range of complex needs. The school also has an onsite nursery.

We  offer an exceptional learning environment, with outstanding resources. The building also offers a music and technology room, and group rooms. There are extensive grounds and protected play spaces which continue to be developed and provide a fantastic outdoor space. We grow our own produce and have chickens, guinea pigs and a Pets as Therapy dog.

As part of The Mead Academy Trust we have close links with the Mead Teaching School providing numerous opportunities for exceptional professional development.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant initially to work within the Resource Base at Castle Mead School. A knowledge of working with children with complex needs is desirable.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a track record of shaping practice around the following principles;

  • There is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers

We are seeking applicants who are/have:

  • Passionate about improving learning opportunities for children with complex needs
  • Experience of creating and delivering highly bespoke curriculums and skilled at using a range of strategies for complex needs including ASD
  • An experienced Teaching Assistant with SEN knowledge and practise evidenced within an educational environment
  • A strong motivation to support children with additional and complex needs
  • Flexible, with a strong commitment to teamwork
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with a good sense of humour
  • Committed to ongoing professional development
  • Able to support teachers’ liaison and meetings with professionals
  • NVQ Level 2 in Teaching and Learning or higher

Ideally the successful candidate will have:

  • Experience and interest in successfully working with children with complex needs and within a specialist learning environment
  • Other relevant qualifications relating to Teaching and Learning and supporting children with complex needs
  • We would welcome applications from graduates
