The amazing Friends of the Mead hosted their annual fundraising event on 7th March, and we think it was one of the best and most successful of recent years, raising almost £300 for Friends activities.

Children from Hilperton and Wingfield sites were asked to raid the backs of their sofas, kitchen drawers and car pockets, and bring in any loose change they could find to put into a class jar of pennies.

At the same time, the super talented Art Club were creating stunning pictures of bees and flowers – a highly creative way of helping our children to find out more about the Trust’s ongoing Polli:Nation project  as well as enjoying the art and the fundraising aspects of the day.

Each class had the opportunity to go out into the sunshine and place the loose change onto the Art Club’s wonderful creations. By the time each class had been out, we estimated that over 5,000 coins had been placed!

The challenge was so successful that it was even covered by the Wiltshire Times – you can read the full article from them here.
